Westchester Knicks News Release

WHITE PLAINS, NY - September 5, 2019 - Paul Watson of the Westchester Knicks, the official NBA G League affiliate of the New York Knicks, has been named to the USA's NBA G League Elite Team prior to the NBA G League International Challenge - a basketball exhibition tournament comprised of teams from around the world. It will be held at the Antel Arena in Montevideo, Uruguay for the first time from Wednesday, September 18 - Sunday, September 22, 2019.

"I'm grateful for the opportunity," Watson began. "I'm excited to work and showcase what I can bring to an NBA organization."

Along with USA's NBA G League Elite Team (a team comprised of top talent from the NBA's official minor league), participating teams include Argentina's San Lorenzo, Brazil's Flamengo, Germany's FC Bayern Munich, and Uruguay's Men's National Team.

The tournament will begin with three days of group play, culminating in a final four semifinals and championship game between the top two teams. The first NBA G League International Challenge took place at NBA All-Star 2018 in Los Angeles, where the NBA G League USA Team defeated Mexico's Men's National Team 88-67.

Watson played in all 50 of the 2018-19 regular season games, starting 42 of them. He logged the most minutes of any Knicks player this season. Scoring 8.2 points per game, Watson shot the ball at 43.8-percent from the field and 34.5-percent from downtown.

Watson totaled 53 assists and elevated for 28 blocks both besting his numbers from his first season in Westchester (2017-18).

The Westchester Knicks retain Watson's returning rights for the 2019-20 season.
