Waters Extends Streak in Loss to Hammerheads

KISSIMMEE, Fla. - Drew Waters extended his hitting streak to seven games with a 1-for-4 night, but the Florida Fire Frogs dropped Wednesday's contest to the Jupiter Hammerheads, 11-2, at Osceola County Stadium.

With Florida (20-35, 49-72) trailing 4-0 heading into the stretch, Jordan Rodgers (2x3, R, 3B) tripled to start the frame with a triple down the line in right against Josh Roeder (6-4). Waters followed with an RBI ground-rule double over the wall in right-center to break up the shutout and extend his hitting streak to seven games.

Three batters later, Braxton Davidson (1x3, RBI, BB) drove home the 19-year-old with a scorched single through the right side of the infield to pull the Fire Frogs within two.

The score remained the same until Jupiter (26-30, 66-58) broke the game open with a seven-spot in the top of the ninth for the game's final outcome.

Filyer Sanchez (0-1) suffered the loss for the home team, allowing four runs on eight hits, a walk and three strikeouts across six frames in his second start at the High-A level.

Florida takes aim at the series victory in the finale of the three-game set at Osceola County Stadium on Thursday night. RHP Huascar Ynoa (1-2, 9.19) takes gets the call in the rubber match for the Fire Frogs against the Hammerheads' RHP Jorge Guzman (0-8, 3.80). First pitch is scheduled for 6:31 p.m., with coverage starting at 6:15 p.m. with the Florida Fire Frogs Pre-game Show on the Florida Fire Frogs Broadcasting Network.
