Marauders Allow Three Long Balls in 8-3 Loss

BRADENTON, Fla. - In the second game of a three game series at LECOM Park, the Bradenton Marauders dropped their first contest in their last five at the hands of the Florida State League South Division leading Charlotte Stone Crabs on Wednesday night.
Second baseman Vidal Brujan stroked the ball all night for the visitors as he finished a perfect three for three, including two home runs, two walks, and a single all while driving in five runs, stealing a pair of bases and scoring four times himself. In an effort that almost paced Brujan, left fielder Carl Chester was perfect as well at the plate, finishing with four hits in four tries including his first home run in just his second game in a Stone Crabs uniform. Chester finished with three runs scored as Charlotte took advantage late with five runs over the final four innings in a game that was back and forth early.
For Bradenton, Jared Oliva doubled to extend his team lead in the category on his 24th of the season in the bottom of the first and later came around to score his league-leading 73rd run in the frame that ended with the score 1-1. The home club also plated a run in the second on an Adrian Valerio single and the Marauders scoring was capped off with Hunter Owen's team-leading 15th home run of the season, a solo shot to lead off the fourth inning.
On the hill, Pedro Vasquez took his third consecutive loss by allowing five runs over six innings on five hits while striking out four and walking two batters. The defeat snaps a four game winning streak for Bradenton.
The Marauders continue their final three game series of the year against the Stone Crabs on Thursday at 6:30, with RHP Gavin Wallace throwing for Bradenton and LHP Josh Fleming is scheduled for Charlotte.
