July 27, 2012 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Washington Stealth News Release
Everett, Wash. - The Washington Stealth has announced the signings of defensemen Curtis Hodgson and Matt Beers today, pending approval by the National Lacrosse League. Both players have spent their entire careers with the Stealth organization and in the last three seasons have missed only three games combined.
Hodgson, 30, joined the Stealth in 2005 and is one of the leaders on the defensive end. As consistent as there is in the NLL, the Burnaby, B.C. native equaled a career-high with five goals in 2012. He currently ranks second on the Stealth's all-time regular season games played list with 127 and sits seventh in loose balls (486). In his career, he has 74 points (29g, 45a) and has appeared in 11 postseason games.
"Curtis is simply a rock and has been a fixture in our back end for years and having him back in 2013 is a very good thing for our team," said Stealth General Manager Doug Locker. "He brings stability, smarts and leadership to our defense and continues to get better each and every season."
Beers, 22, is in his third season after being selected by the Stealth 13th overall in the 2009 NLL Entry Draft. Already considered on of the league's top defenders, Beers had a career year in 2012. He set new career highs in goals (5), assists (11) and points (16) while grabbing 59 loose balls. In his career, the Coquitlam, B.C. native has 32 points (8g, 24a) and 202 loose balls in 46 regular season games.
"Matt is coming off a very good season in 2012 and has quickly developed into one of the best defenseman in the NLL," said Locker. "He is a player who brings it every single night and we are very excited to have him wearing a Stealth jersey again this year."
The Stealth will open training camp in December with the 16-game regular season schedule beginning in January. The team will play eight home games at the Comcast Arena at Everett. Season tickets for the 2013 season start at just $99 and are on sale now. For more information, call 877-MY-75-TIX or log on to www.stealthlax.com.
