Washington Stealth and XKL Fundraisers Earn Over 40,000 Meals for Northwest Harvest

Everett, Wash. - The National Lacrosse League's Washington Stealth and XKL, LLC have joined forces to fight hunger in Washington and together have collected enough food and monetary donations to provide over 40,000 meals to Washingtonians in need. The two organizations meet last week to present the donations to Northwest Harvest.

Numerous members of the Stealth organization, including team owner Denise Watkins, President David Takata and player Paul Rabil were on hand to deliver the donations to Northwest Harvest, which provides over 680,000 food services each month to the community. The Stealth held two food drives in March, including one at its March 25 game at the Comcast Arena.

"Many people think about supporting Food Banks around the Thanksgiving holidays, but peoples need for help with food for their table is a year-round problem," said Watkins. "Particularly in recent years, with the economic downturn, many more people need a little help to be able to put a healthy meal on the tables for their families. We are very happy to support Northwest Harvest in whatever way we can and help them collect food for local families."

XKL, LLC, a leading-edge provider of enterprise fiber optic networking equipment based in Kirkland, Wash., chose Northwest Harvest as a philanthropic effort earlier this year and began conducting a food drive of their own in recent months. After catching wind of the Stealth's efforts in helping out a great cause, the two organizations linked efforts. XKL's founder and CEO, Leonard Bosack, was also on hand to present the donations to Northwest Harvest.

Northwest Harvest is the only non-profit food bank distribution center operating statewide in Washington with a network of over 300 food banks, meal programs and at-risk elementary schools.

Fans are reminded to join Stealth on April 9th at the Comcast Arena, as players' auction off game-worn pink helmets and other merchandise during the game with all proceeds donated to Susan G. Komen.
