Everett, Wash. - The Washington Stealth professional indoor lacrosse team has partnered with Seattle Children's Hospital, Everett Bone and Joint, and the Washington Chapter of US Lacrosse to present "Concussions: What You Need to Know", a free symposium on one of sport's hottest topics. The symposium for parents, athletes and coaches will take place on February 21, from 5:45pm-8:30pm at Seattle Children's Wright Auditorium.

Concussions are an increasingly growing issue in the world of contact sports, including lacrosse. With more information coming out on concussions daily, it is important that parents, athletes and coaches are aware of the cause, symptoms and treatment of concussions. Some of the top doctors in the area from Seattle Children's Hospital and Everett Bone and Joint will deliver presentations with practical discussion focused on young athletes playing sports.

"For a few families, this evening may prove to be one of the most important nights of their lives," said David Takata, President of the Stealth. "Seattle Children's has stepped up in a big way to make their top physicians available to the sports community. In addition, the Stealth's team doctors from Everett Bone & Joint will discuss the practical matter of returning athletes to the field or court. It's a unique opportunity for any sport coach, board member or team volunteer to be educated by the experts."

The symposium will provide answers to frequently asked questions about concussions, including "What is a concussion -, "How is a concussion treated - and "How do I get back to playing safely - . Plus, those in attendance will have an opportunity to ask doctors questions on concussions and hear a personal story of concussions from a lacrosse player. The evening's program will be free to all and appetizers will be served during registration.
