Washington Glory News Release
CHANTILLY, VA - Defending National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) champion Washington Glory (25-15) finish their home schedule this weekend against the Akron Racers (19-21) and rookie ace Angela Tincher. The teams will clash four times, Friday, August 8 through Monday, August 11 at the Westfield Sports Complex. First pitch will be at 7:05pm for all games.
The Glory have also introduced a limited-time season ticket special. Between now and August 15, anyone who purchases 2009 season tickets will also get comparable tickets for the 2010 season. Full details on this special are available by calling 703-889-8870.
Tincher tossed a 1-0 no hitter against the Glory on June 14, including nine strikeouts. Though the Glory is in first-place in the NPF standings headed into the final stretch, Chicago and Philadelphia are just one game behind, making every game a must-win.
An alumnus from Virginia Tech, Tincher has dominated the league in her first season. She leads the league in wins (12) and strikeouts (132) and is second in the league in ERA (1.85), just behind Washington's Sarah Pauly (1.60).
To combat the pitching, the Glory will lean heavily on their two sluggers, Oli Keohohou (.314 AVG, 12 HR, 28 RBI) and Sara Larquier (12 HR, 27 RBI). Pitchers Pauly and Desiree Serrano give the Glory two 10-game winners, the only team in the NPF with that luxury.
