
Warthogs fall again at Wilmington

Wilmington, DE â The Winston Salem Warthogs (27-17, 56-58) lost at Wilmington, 7-2, Tuesday night. The Warthogs have lost five of their last eight games. Warthogs' starter, Kenny Ray, suffered the loss. Ray gave up three earned runs on five hits in six innings. Blue Rocks' starter, Devon Lowery, earned his eighth win. Lowery gave up just one earned run on four hits in 6 1/3 innings.
The Blue Rocks led 2-0 in the first on a Travis Chapman two-out, two-run homer. Mitch Maier added another score on a solo homer in the fourth for a 3-0 lead.
The Warthogs scored single runs in the sixth and seventh innings to get with a run at 3-2. The Blue Rocks responded with a four run eighth, sending eight batters to the plate. Mitch Maier and Adam Keim each had two hits for the Blue Rocks. Eight different Warthogs had hits in the game.
Winston-Salem and Wilmington play game three of their four game series Wednesday afternoon at 1:05pm. RHP Brandon McCarthy (5-0) will pitch for Winston-Salem. LHP Dusty Hughes (4-3) will toss for Wilmington. All the play by play will be heard on the internet at www.warthogs.com.
