
Warriors tie a franchise record in sweep of Tomahawks Saturday night

The Michigan Warriors scored a Franchise record-tying 9 goals in a game with tonight's 9-4 victory over the Johnstown Tomahawks tonight at Perani Arena. The Warriors increased their hold on 2nd place behind Port Huron to 4 points over Johnstown in the battle for playoff position in the NAHL North Division as the season has less than a month to go in the regular season.
TJ Stunz (12, 13, and 14) led all Warriors goal scorers in the contest picking up the hat-trick. Tyler Groat (16, 17), Nick Mosher (4), AJ Marcinek (10), Colin Larkin (21) and Connor Lyons (5) also scored for the Warriors.
The Tomahawks Matthew Meier (18, 19) lead the Johnstown scoring attack, as Trevor Recktenwald (8), and Jordan Watt (18) also scored in the losing effort.
Warriors goaltender Robbie Beydoun stopped 26 shots picking up his 6th win, while Brett Young stopped 41 Warriors shots in the loss.
Michigan last scored 9 goals in a game when they defeated the Port Huron Fighting Falcons 9-1 at Perani Arena on January 8, 2011. The 9-goals scored in a game was first accomplished by a Michigan Warriors team in a game on the road against Port Huron in November, 2011 when Michigan defeated Port Huron 9-2.
The Warriors travel to face the Soo Eagles, Port Huron Fighting Falcons and Janesville Jets before returning to Perani Arena on Friday March 21, 2014.
