Warriors sign first four for 2004

WEST VALLEY CITY, UTAH – The Utah Warriors of the National Indoor Football League are pleased to announce the signing Omar Bacon, Henry Kaufusi, Kautai Olevao, and Emmett White. All four players return from last season's Pacific Conference championship team and all have Utah college ties.

Omar Bacon (6-2, 220) returns to the fullback position that he starred in last season. In 2003, Bacon led the NIFL with 38 touchdowns and 234 points. He also led the Warriors with 330 yards rushing and 104 attempts. Bacon also had 56 receptions for 428 yards. Bacon played his collegiate football at the University of Utah and spent the 2000 season with the New York Giants.

Henry Kaufusi (6-3, 290) comes back to the Warriors healthy and ready to go for the 2004 season. Kaufusi played in the first two games of the 2003 season where he recorded 2.5 tackles and one sack before tearing his ACL and missing the remainder of the season. Kaufusi also played at the University of Utah and should start on the defensive line for the Warriors this season.

Kautai Olevao (6-3, 260) is back to play linebacker for the Warriors in the 2004 season. Olevao played in the final 10 games for the Warriors last season after breaking his arm on the first play of a preseason game last season. Olevao recorded 38 tackles, including 22 solo and three for loss last season. While at the University of Utah he was named all-conference three times and spent time with the Tennessee Titans of the NFL.

Emmett White (6-1, 215) moves to receiver for the 2004 season after a stellar 2003 season with the Warriors. In 2003, White led the Warriors with 100 receptions and was second on the team with 895 yards. White also led the team with 1,039 kickoff return yards, an average of 20.4 per return. White's 100 receptions led the NIFL as did his 2,077 all purpose yards. White played for Utah State University in college and led the NCAA in all purpose yards during his senior season. He also holds the NCAA record for all purpose yards in one game.

The Utah Warriors begin the 2004 season with the Black and Gold game on February 28 at the E-Center. The regular season begins on March 13 when the Warriors host the expansion Colorado Venom at 7:00 pm. Season tickets are available by contacting the Warriors office at 801-973-7311. Individual game tickets can be purchased at the E-Center box office and start at $12 for adults and $6 for kids.
