Warriors Beat the Blue

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - The Santa Cruz Warriors defeated the Oklahoma City Blue 104-89 Friday night at Kaiser Permanente Arena.

Elliot Williams exploded on offense to lead the team to victory, recording a game-high 28 points, 7 assists, and 3 steals, while shooting 12 of 18 from the field. Joe Alexander tallied 20 points and Sean Kilpatrick knocked down 16 points. Ognjen Kuzmic, on assignment from the Golden State Warriors, gave Santa Cruz a strong defensive edge, notching 5 blocked shots.

Oklahoma City was paced by Mario Little who scored 24 points and had 7 rebounds, shooting 4-for-7 from behind the three-point. Michael Jenkins scored 23 points off the bench, and Richard Solomon recorded a double-double with10 points and 10 rebounds.

The Warriors led by as much as 30 points in the third quarter, and kept the Blue at a distance despite their 14-4 run to pull within 10 points of Santa Cruz in the fourth quarter.

The Warriors outshot the Blue (48.8%-34.8%), held the edge on points in the paint (44-40), fast break points (34-15), blocked shots (12-4), and tallied more assists (28-20). The Blue outrebounded the Warriors (52-43), had more second chance points (23-10).

The Santa Cruz Warriors will go on the road to face the Idaho Stampede in a weekend double-header this Friday and Saturday at 6:00 p.m. PST.
