The Worcester Bravehearts (3-1) beat the Pittsfield Suns (2-3) 4-2 in eight innings on Tuesday at Wahconah Park behind Tom Walraven, who went 2-2.
He singled in the fourth and eighth innings.
Brady Furdon kept contact to a minimum, striking out seven the Pittsfield Suns batters. Furdon allowed one earned run on five hits and no walks over five innings.
Austin Hanson was effective even in defeat, mowing down seven the Worcester Bravehearts batters and allowing one run.
Eric Hamilton was solid at the plate for the Pittsfield Suns. Hamilton went 1-3, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the sixth inning.
Manny Powers was charged with the loss. He lasted just one inning, walked one, struck out two, and allowed two runs.
