Walker, Bowick Latest to Stay in Chicago

May 6, 2003 – The Chicago Rush announced today that two of its veteran players have agreed to return for the 2004 season. The Rush has reached agreements on one-year contract extensions with lineman Tony Bowick and defensive specialist Cedric Walker.

Bowick will return for his third season with Chicago and 12th overall. The 36-year-old Bowick has recorded 7.5 tackles and one sack this season, and also recovered a fumble for a touchdown.

"It is hard to leave a game you love," said Bowick. "I want thank the Rush organization for still believing in me, and giving me an opportunity to keep playing."

Walker, who led the AFL by recording a career-high 98 tackles in 2002, is again Chicago's leading tackler this season and ranks fifth on the AFL's all-time tackles list with 457.

"It's great to know I will return next year," said Walker. "My wife, daughter and I look forward to being around the nucleus that we have here. I love Chicago and would like to end my career here."

This week the Rush (7-7) returns home to Allstate Arena Sunday, May 11, at 2 p.m. to host the Arizona Rattlers (8-6).
