Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release
Visalia, CA - The Quakes let one slip away on Thursday, as the Rawhide scored twice in the seventh and then walked it off in the ninth, taking a 3-2 win over Rancho at Valley Strong Ballpark.
A two-out, ninth-inning RBI single off the wall in center field by Alvin Guzman gave the Rawhide their second straight win over Rancho, sending the Quakes to their 11th August loss in 15 games.
Leading 2-0 in the seventh, the Quakes allowed the Rawhide to tie the game in the seventh, as Kelvin Ramirez was unable to hold the lead.
In the ninth, Garrett McDaniels (0-1) allowed a one-out double to Kevin Sim, but got the next hitter for the second out. Reynaldo Yean was summoned to enter the game and he served up the game-winner, as Guzman blasted one over the head of center fielder Dylan Campbell to end it.
Rancho was held to just four hits and both their runs were unearned, as the offense struggled to get on track throughout the night.
Rancho starter Jared Karros battled through five scoreless innings, putting himself in position to potentially earn a win, prior to Visalia's three-run rally.
Visalia reliever Kyle Amendt (1-0) worked a scoreless ninth for the win.
Rancho (19-26, 58-53) will send Chris Campos (5-5) to the mound on Friday night, while Visalia will roll with Wyatt Wendell (3-8) at 6:30pm, for game four of the series.
The Quakes will return to LoanMart Field on Tuesday, August 22, taking on Lake Elsinore in a six-game series. Tuesday will be a Healthy RC Recycle Tuesday, as fans can log on to our website and learn how to score a FREE Club Seat Ticket to the game. Tickets are available at rcquakes.com...Go Quakes!
