Walk-Off Walk for Bend Elks in 10-Inning Victory
July 9, 2014 - West Coast League (WCL)
Bend Elks News Release
Jake Peevyhouse drew a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the tenth inning to score Curtis Wildung with the winning run in the Bend Elks' 2-1 victory over the Klamath Falls Gems at Vince Genna Stadium on Tuesday evening.
The Elks' pushed across the winning run in the extra frame without the benefit of a hit. After Wildung's one out base on balls, Josh Cushing and Jake Erlandson--both late game replacements for Bend--were hit by pitches before Peevyhouse drew his team-high 18th walk of the season.
Kevin Sheets (1-0) earned the victory in relief while Kody Kuhlman (3-3) took the loss.
The Elks', winners of 10 of their last 13 games, are now 17-12 on the season. The Gems fall to 8-18.
The two South Division rivals close out the three-game series with a 6:35 scheduled first pitch at Vince Genna Stadium on Wednesday evening.
