Waco Marshals announce venue change for try-out

Waco, TX â The Waco Marshals of the National Indoor Football League announced Monday that the venue for their open try-out on January 31, 2004 will be moved from their facility at the Heart O' Texas Fair and Rodeo Complex to Star Field. "Due to the overwhelming response by prospective players, the coaching staff felt we needed a larger field to better assess the skills of the players trying out. We want to ensure that each player trying out has every opportunity to show us what he can do. By moving to a larger field, we feel this will give them that opportunity" stated General Manager/Head Coach John Bronkhorst. The Marshals project the tryout numbers could be as high as 200-300 potential players vying for the 25-man roster. "We needed to move the combine to a 100 yard field to allow the coaching staff to better evaluate those players trying out. With the potential high numbers we didn't want players sitting around in the stands waiting their turn," said Bronkhorst.
Star Field is located at the corner of New Road and Bagby in Waco, across the street from the new Waco ISD Stadium. Registration will begin at Noon on Saturday, with the try-out set to start at 2:00PM. The fee is $50 with all participants receiving a t-shirt. Players are asked to bring cleated shoes, tennis (turf) shoes, and athletic clothing to workout in. Players will be tested in both physical skills and football skills.
The Waco Marshals, entering their inaugural season in the National Indoor Football League, will play all seven(7) home games at the Heart O' Texas Fair and Rodeo Complex. The Marshals open their season at home on March 12, 2004 at 7pm against the Lake Charles LandSharks.
Season tickets for all 7 home games of the 2004 season are currently on sale. Season ticket prices are VIP/Floor $161, Box/Middle Balcony $105 and End Zone and Concrete Balcony $70.
