Great Falls Voyagers News Release

HELENA - The Great Falls Voyagers (39-36, 15-22) followed a familiar formula as a rock-solid bullpen allowed the Voyagers to stage a long comeback to defeat the Helena Brewers (24-51, XX-XX) 7-3 Wednesday night at Kindrick Legion Field.

The Voyagers sent Keegan Linza to the hill to start but several Helena dribblers found holes and they jumped out to a 3-1 lead through the second. The Voyagers had grabbed an unearned run in the second before Helena suffered a three-error, three-wild pitch inning in the third to tie the game 3-3. The bullpen took over after the third as Andrew Virgili (4-2), Brandon Hardin, and Ryan Bollinger combined to throw six shutout innings while the Voyager offense took over.

The two runs in the third opened the offensive floodgates for the Voyagers who grabbed a single run in the fourth inning of a Thomas McCarthy two-out single. The lead was enough to hold as the Voyagers gave themselves plenty of cushion in the fifth as five straight Voyagers had hits, including the second of two Justin Jirschele doubles and a Daurys Mercedes triple, to grow the lead to 7-3. The bullpen did the rest, including Bollinger's 3-inning save, to finish the game at that score.

The Voyagers play their final regular season game Thursday night in Helena. The game matches up Brewer Tyler Wagner and Voyager Brandon Parrent. After the game, the Voyagers will head directly to the town of the winner between tomorrow night's game between Billings and Missoula to play game one of the playoffs Friday night.
