Great Falls Voyagers News Release
HELENA Mont.--Kyle Eveland's two-run double was the difference in the Voyagers 2-1 victory over the Brewers, completing their first series sweep of the season.
With one out in the inning, Randall Thorpe reached on Yadiel Rivera's 13th error of the season, a throwing error that pulled first baseman Steve Felix off the bag. After Andrew Douglas flied out, Qualon Millender drew a walk to extend the inning for Kyle Eveland. On a 2-1 count, Eveland hit a flare down the right field line, out of the reach of the diving Max Walla. As the ball bounced past Walla, both Thorpe and Millender scored to provide the Voyagers their only runs of the game.
In a scorer's decision, Stephen McCray (1-3) earned the victory. In his longest outing of the season, the righty worked five scoreless innings out of the bullpen, his longest outing of the season, which includes five appearances as a starter. McCray got out of a huge jam in the final inning when Joe De Pinto's throwing error put the tying run on second with nobody out. After McCray struck out Allison, Jimmy Jacquot, making his second professional appearance at first, scooped a low throw from De Pinto for a second out and then, Joe, secured an infield pop up to end the game. McCray struck out four, surrendering just one hit in his outing.
Jarrett Casey was provided some extra rest as the Voyagers skipped his spot in the rotation.
Kevin Vance made his first professional start of the his career. The righty went two scoreless innings, striking out three.
Brandon Parrent followed with two innings of relief work. Making his second professional appearance, Parrent walked the first batter he faced, leadoff batter John Dishon, and eventually allowed him to score when he surrendered a two-out single to Ben McMahan in the third. The Texas A&M product, Parrent, came back to throw a scoreless fourth.
Andy Moye was the tough luck loser (4-1). Going seven innings, Moye gave up two unearned runs, striking out eight while allowing just four hits.
The win gives the Voyagers their first series sweep of the season and their first three-game winning streak, as well.
In the win, Great Falls collected just four hits, including a single from Qualon Millender in the third inning to extend his on-base streak to 19 consecutive games.
The Voyagers return home tomorrow night. Sam Phippen (RHP) goes for the Voyagers against the Billings Mustangs. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. from Centene Stadium with the pregame show set to begin at 6:35 p.m. on 560 KMON.
