Voting Open for 2012 "Fan Favorite Award" on Coloradorapids.com

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (Monday, October 22, 2012) - Voting is now open on www.ColoradoRapids.com for the Fan Favorite Award, with Rapids supporters from around the globe able to choose their favorite player of the 2012 season. The Fan Favorite Award will be presented after this Saturday night's match against the Houston Dynamo, which is Fan Appreciation Night at Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City.

The Fan Favorite Award, new in 2012, will allow fans to vote for their favorite Rapids player of the season, whether for play on the field, service in the community, interaction with fans, or anything else. Fans can select up to three players, with the winner being determined by the highest percentage of votes. The voting is open until Friday, October 26 at 4:00 p.m. MT at www.coloradorapids.com/poll/2012fanfavorite.

The Rapids will present their 2012 team awards immediately following Saturday night's match against the Houston Dynamo, with a total of six honors available for players to win. Three of the awards (Most Valuable Player, Defensive Player of the Year, and Young Player of the Year) are determined by a vote of Rapids players and assistant coaches, while the Golden Boot will go to the team's leading scorer. The Humanitarian of the Year is chosen by Rapids Community Relations and Kroenke Sports Charities, and the online vote will determine the Fan Favorite Award. Fan Appreciation Night, the Rapids' final match of the 2012 season, will kick off at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 27 at Dick's Sporting Goods Park and features prizes, giveaways and discounts, as well as a special "Jerseys off our Backs" presentation.
