NEW ORLEANS (November 3, 2011) - The New Orleans VooDoo re-signed the team's 2011 tackler JLB Alvin Jackson, announced the front office on Thursday morning.

"Alvin proved last season that he is a good player in between the walls, and we are very fortunate to have him with us for 2012," said Head Coach Pat O'Hara. "Alvin's relentless work ethic is something that I value in a player and a person, and he will be a huge asset in leading our team."

Jackson (6'1" 200 lbs., Albany State) led the VooDoo defense last season in total tackles (89.0), solo tackles (75), assisted tackles (28), interceptions (8), and fumble recoveries (3). His 8 interceptions on the season ranked second in the AFL amongst jack linebackers.

Jackson was one of four players to play in all 18 games for the VooDoo in 2011, and he is the fifth player to re-sign with the team for 2012.

Although last season was his first in the AFL, Jackson returns three additional years of experience between the walls on the AF2 level. The Como, Miss. native was an All-AF2 selection at linebacker in 2009 for the Albany Firebirds. Jackson also holds the AF2 record for most interceptions in a game with five achieved in 2009 against Mahoning Valley.
