New Orleans VooDoo News Release

New Orleans VooDoo players, in conjunction with the Preservation Resource Center of New Orleans, are teaming up with housing charity "Rebuilding Together" to prime, paint and repair an elderly woman's home in New Orleans on Tuesday, March 22 from 10:30 a.m. until noon. The project's goal is to preserve and revitalize homes and communities, assuring that low-income homeowners – particularly those who are elderly or disabled – live in a safe environment.

Details of tomorrow's event – open to the media – are as follows:

DATE: March 22, 2005

TIME: 10:30 a.m. to noon

PLACE: Mrs. Violet Green's home (located at 6307 Douglas St. in New Orleans)

Ms. Green has owned her home since the 1970s. With deteriorating conditions in her neighborhood, Green's three children – two daughters and a son – have asked her to move. But Green says she remains too attached to her home to leave, and is excited for the much-needed facelift the VooDoo will help provide.

For more information on this event, please contact Bryon Cornelison of Rebuilding Together at (504) 636-3060.
