VooDoo Get Back to Work, Take on Soul

PHILADELPHIA (May 7, 2014) - The New Orleans VooDoo (1-5) continue their road swing as they take on the Philadelphia Soul this Saturday night.

New Orleans is coming off a bye week, while Philadelphia (3-4) is coming off a 65-57 loss to the Pittsburgh Power last weekend. These teams last met in Philadelphia on June 8, 2013 as the Soul got by the VooDoo 65-56. These teams also share a history as both joined the league as expansion teams in 2004.

VooDoo quarterback Kurt Rocco played one of his best games in his last outing, despite New Orleans taking the loss to Orlando. Rocco threw for a season-high 281 yards with five touchdowns and also completed a season-high 24 passes. He also rushed for an additional score. Rocco has thrown for 1,023 yards this season along with 20 touchdowns. Receiver L.J. Castile remains the team leader with 42 receptions for 546 yards and 15 touchdowns. Chase Deadder returned to the lineup three weeks ago but saw his most extensive action last week, since missing three games with injury. Against the Predators two weeks ago, Deadder had eight catches for 97 yards and a touchdown.

Soul quarterback Dan Raudabaugh leads his team and is sixth in the league in passing yards with 1,774. His 66.2% completion rate is second in the league among active starters, and he's thrown 36 touchdowns. The Soul boast the AFL's leading rusher in Derrick Ross who has 206 yards on 57 carries with 14 touchdowns. Receiver Ryan McDaniel is the Soul's top receiver, and he is fifth in the league with 744 yards. He has scored 12 touchdowns. Anthony Jones has caught a team-high 17 touchdowns for the Soul and has 593 yards.

VooDoo defensive back Cameron McGlenn continues to make an impact in the VooDoo secondary. McGlenn leads the team with five interceptions (T-5th, AFL). Joe Goosby has two for Philadelphia. In the sacks department, Mike Alston for the VooDoo and Teddy Jennings for the Soul each have four.

The Soul have a solid kick return game as Robert Redd has 622 yards on 33 returns, good enough for fourth in the league. VooDoo kick returner Larry Beavers is tenth in the AFL with 343 yards on 20 returns.

Kickoff for Saturday night's game is scheduled for 6 p.m. EDT at the Wells Fargo Center. The VooDoo have one more road game in San Antonio the following week before returning home on May 24 to host the Iowa Barnstormers. Fans can catch Saturday's game live on Rush Radio 99.5-FM.
