Philadelphia Soul News Release
PHILADELPHIA (May 8, 2014) - Faced with the need to bounce back after a disappointing loss, the Soul are ready to put the defeat behind them and start a new winning streak. The Soul (3-4) host the New Orleans VooDoo (1-5) at the Wells Fargo Center on Saturday, May 10 at 6 p.m. The game will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network.
During Week 8, the Soul fell to the Pittsburgh Power in an action-packed game with a score of 65-57 and ended a three-game winning streak. Soul head coach Clint Dolezel will look to get Philadelphia back to their winning ways and a big part of that will be on the shoulders of QB Dan Raudabaugh. In his third year with the Soul, Raudabaugh has been putting up impressive numbers - completing 143-of-216 passes (66.2%) for 1,774 yards and 36 touchdowns.
His main targets have been the deadly combo of Tiger Jones and Ryan McDaniel. Jones, who is a perennial All-Arena performer, has 46 receptions for 593 yards and 17 touchdowns. McDaniel, who was a Rookie of the Year candidate a year ago, leads the team with 53 catches for 744 yards, while adding 12 receiving touchdowns and one rushing touchdown.
Soul defensive back James Romain posted a team-high 8.5 total tackles and created the highlight for the night with an impressive 58-yard kickoff return for a touchdown against Pittsburgh. The Soul defensive front is led by the young and talented Teddy Jennings and T.J. Langley. The two have combined for 7.5 sacks. Veteran leader Brandon Perkins adds 4.0 sacks from the Mack Linebacker spot. In the secondary, Rayshaun Kizer currently leads the team with 42.5 tackles on the season.
The New Orleans Voodoo's head coach Pat O'Hara has no shortage of talent, despite a rough start to their 2014 season. VooDoo quarterback Kurt Rocco leads the offense by completing 86-of-155 passes for 1,023 yards and 20 passing touchdowns and four rushing scores on the 2014 season. In the Week 7 game against the Orlando Predators, Rocco threw a season-high 281 yards for five touchdowns. Wide receiver L.J Castile has been the primary target for the VooDoo and currently leads the team with 42 receptions for 546 yards and 15 touchdowns.
Ball-hawking Cameron McGlenn leads the VooDoo with 29.5 total tackles and five interceptions. Former member of the Soul's 2008 championship team, Eddie Moten has 22.0 total tackles and three interceptions. The Soul offensive line will have their eyes on Mike Alston, who has 4.0 sacks on the season.
The Soul will continue home for Week 10 when they will play the Tampa Bay Storm on Saturday, May 17 at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.
