VooDoo Add Eight More Players to Roster

In the ongoing process of forming their roster for their first season, the New Orleans VooDoo continue to fill out their roster by adding eight more players. The team has signed the following free agents; WR/DB Lamont Moore, FB/LB Sacha Lancaster, OS Ira Gooch, OS Kenny Solomon, DS Chandler Smith, WR/DB Calvin Coleman and FB/LB Byron Douzart. The VooDoo also agreed to terms with OL/DL Sean Powell.

"These signings continue to add solid depth to our team which will prove valuable to us," said VooDoo Head Coach Mike Neu. "Many of these guys have extensive Arena Football experience. Others have valuable experience at the af2 level. The have the ability to play at this level and are going to be given the opportunity to prove this with the VooDoo."

* Moore (6-2, 210, Baylor) comes to the VooDoo from the Orlando Predators, where in three seasons he has been a valuable target, recording 40 catches for 501 yards and nine touchdowns.

* Lancaster (6-3, 255, Arkansas) joins the VooDoo after spending 2003 with af2's Arkansas Twisters. He also played with the AFL's Los Angeles Avengers in 2002.

* Gooch (6-0, 188, Central Michigan) comes back to New Orleans after spending the 2003 training camp with the Saints. Gooch played the 2003 season with af2's Quad City Steamwheelers where he finished with 91 receptions for 1,465 yards and 37 touchdowns.

* Solomon (6-4, 200, Benedict) comes to the VooDoo from the National Indoor Football League's Myrtle Beach Stingrays, where he appeared in ten games and finished with 31 catches for 467 yards and a team-leading 11 touchdowns.

* Smith (6-1, 201, Southern Mississippi) comes to the VooDoo from the CFL's Ottawa Renegades where he posted 11 tackles at linebacker/safety in 2003. Smith spent 2002 training camp with the Washington Redskins, who allocated him to play with the Rhein Fire of NFL Europe in 2002. Smith signed as an undrafted free agent by Jacksonville in 2001 where he competed in training camp. Smith got his professional start in 2000 with the National Indoor Football League's Mississippi Firedogs.

· Coleman (5-10, 181, Montana) comes to the VooDoo after spending the spring of 2003 with NFL Europe's Berlin Thunder where he recorded 33 tackles, six passes defensed, one forced fumble and three special teams tackles in extensive duty at cornerback. Coleman took part in the New York Giants' 2002 training camp.

* Douzart, (6-2, 235, Tennessee-Martin) also played for Porter in Macon in both 2002 and 2003, rushing 69 times for 288 yards with 17 touchdowns, while chipping in 106.5 tackles, 10.5 sacks, seven forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries on defense.

* Powell (6-2, 298, New Mexico State) comes to the VooDoo after spending the 2003 season with the af2 Macon Knights, where he played under New Orleans defensive coordinator Kevin Porter and recorded 13 tackles, four sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. Powell spent 2002 training camp with the NFL's Washington Redskins and 2000 and 2001 camps with the Detroit Lions, also playing for NFL Europe's Amsterdam Admirals in 2001, where he registered 21 tackles and 2.5 sacks.
