
Pat Downey Signs with Crush

Oct. 27, 2003, DENVER - Lineman Pat Downey, a veteran of both the Arena Football League and National Football League, has signed a contract to play for the AFL's Colorado Crush the club announced Monday.
Terms of Downey's contract were not disclosed.
A 6-foot-2, 320-pounder who played college football at University of New Hampshire, Downey played for the AFL's Nashville Kats in the 1999, 2000 and 2001 seasons. He has played in two Arena Bowl games.
Downey played in NFL Europe in 2002 and was in training camp with the Washington Redskins this summer.
"Pat is an excellent player who was a dominant offensive center in this league and went on to the NFL," Crush Coach Mike Dailey said. "We're fortunate to have him here."
Downey's signing brings to seven the number of free agents who have signed to play for the Crush in 2004. Previously signed were fullback-linebacker Rich Young, wide receiver Robert Redd, wide receiver Margin Hooks, wide receiver Darcey Levy, kicker Anthony Brenner and two-way lineman Hugh Hunter.
The Crush is scheduled to open training camp in early January.
