The New Orleans VooDoo have announced today that they have signed DL Chad Pegues to add depth to their line
Pegues (6-2, 285, Illinois State) is a six-year Arena Football League veteran, who most recently played for the Kansas City Brigade in 2006. During his AFL tenure, Pegues has recorded 50 tackles (39 solo) with 8.5 sacks, 7.5 tackles for a loss, three passes defensed, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. Offensively, he has made four receptions for 12 yards. In 2006, Pegues appeared in four games with two starts for Kansas City and recorded six tackles (four solo), one sack and 1.5 tackles for a loss. Pegues originally broke into the AFL in 2001 with the Los Angeles Avengers and has also played for the Dallas desperados, Chicago Rush and New York Dragons during his career. Prior to playing at Illinois State as a senior, Pegues was a three-year starter at defensive tackle for the University of Miami.
VooDoo players will report for training camp on Monday, February 5, in preparation for their 2007 season opener at the Utah Blaze on Saturday, March 3. The VooDoo will hold their home opener at the New Orleans Arena on Friday, March 9 when they host the Columbus Destroyers.
