VooDoo Add 9 to Preseason Roster

NEW ORLEANS (January 23, 2014) - The New Orleans Voodoo have been assigned 9 players to its pre-season roster, announced the Voodoo Front Office Thursday.
DeAndre Brown (6-6, 250, Southern Miss) begins his AFL career with the Voodoo in 2014 after making the team in an open try out. A scout.com five-star prospect coming out of high school, Brown signed with The University of Southern Mississippi on National Signing Day in 2008. As a freshman at Southern Miss, Brown was named to multiple Freshman All-America teams including CollegeFootballNews.com and the Football Writers Association. Brown ended his career second all-time at Southern Miss for receptions (24), and third all-time for Southern Miss in receiving yards (2,207). After going undrafted, Brown signed as a free agent with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Andre Kates (5-11, 195, Virginia Union) enters his first season in the AFL with the Voodoo for the 2014. Kates played for four teams in college including The University of Indiana and, ultimately, Virginia Union University. While at VUU, Kates was All-CIAA and second team All-Region in 2012.
Leonardo Bates (6-5, 310, UL-Lafayette) will also begin his rookie season with the Voodoo. Bates joined the University of Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin Cajuns in 2008. Bates was named first team All-Sun Belt after the 2012 season.
Also assigned to the Voodoo are AFL rookies: OL Andrew Nelson (6-4, 275, Stony Brook), OL Kevin Ashak (6-3, 315, Adams State University), OL Jesse Peterson (6-5, 308, Wheaton), OL Richard Muldrow (6-7, 300, Richmond), and DL Kadeem Huggins (6-4, 285, CW Post).
The Voodoo have also been assigned former Denver Bronco and Mississippi State Bulldog, OL Quentin Saulsberry, following a trade with the Los Angeles Kiss for a Voodoo Claim Order Pick.
