Voice of the Lynx, Alex Kyrias, Moves Up to Iowa in the AHL

Augusta, GA - The Augusta Lynx are pleased to announce that Alex Kyrias, who served as the "Voice of the Lynx" and Media/Public Relations Director this past season, has accepted a similar position with Iowa in the American Hockey League. Kyrias, 34, will join Iowa in mid-June as resume the role of Vice-President of Communications and Broadcaster. "This is a great opportunity that wouldn't have been possible if not for my experience and with the Augusta Lynx, and I sincerely thank them for the chance they provided me this past season," said Kyrias. "The Lynx are a first-class organization with passionate and devoted fans, and they will all be missed. I look forward to bringing my enthusiasm and excitement for the game to the AHL team and fans in Iowa." The AHL team in Iowa (formerly the Iowa Stars) will have a new name, new logo and new colors to coincide with a new NHL affiliate for the 2008-09 season.

"We congratulate Alex on his promotion to the AHL," said Lynx General Manager Dan Troutman. "Augusta has become a great place for players, coaches and now broadcasters to develop and graduate to the next level, and we are proud to see that trend continue." The Lynx will begin their search immediately for a replacement. Vice-President of Communications of the ECHL, Jack Carnefix echoed Troutman's sentiments, "We congratulate Alex and wish him all the best as he joins a long list of broadcasters from Augusta who have been able to use the ECHL as a step up the hockey ladder."

Kyrias came to the Lynx in July of 2007 after serving as the Vice-President of Communications and broadcaster for the Texas Tornado of the North American Hockey League from 2002-07. During his tenure in Texas, Kyrias called three consecutive National Championship games (2004, 2005, 2006), all of which the Tornado won. He was also was behind the microphone for the 2005 NAHL All-Star Game. In 2006, Kyrias was honored with the MDA Muscle Team Meritorious Award, honoring his commitment and excellence in sports and the community.
