ROANOKE, VA - The Roanoke Valley Vipers, member of the United Hockey League (UHL), are proud to announce that they are teaming up with the Roanoke Valley Professional Firefighters to participate in Fire Safety Day at the Muscular Dystrophy Association's Annual Summer Camp. Fire Safety Day will take place Wednesday August 3rd at the W.E. Skelton 4-H Educational Conference Center at Smith Mountain Lake.

The Vipers will be there with a simulated hockey game and prizes for the campers on Wednesday from 3:00p.m.-5:30p.m. Campers will buddy up with the firefighters to shoot at the hockey goal, go fishing, learn about fire safety, and just have fun. A medical staff is on hand for campers with special needs for the length of the week-long camp.

"The organization really looks forward to attending and being a part of the MDA's Summer Camp," said Vipers Director of Media and Public Relations Amy Webb. "The Roanoke Valley Professional Firefighters do a great job of involving themselves in the community, and we are glad that we can be a part of this special day with them to give these kids a chance to forget about their illness and just be kids."

The Roanoke Valley Professional Firefighters, who participate annually in the camp, are an affiliate of the International Association of Firefighters (IAFF), whose main charity is the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Don't miss all the fun Saturday from 12p.m.-4p.m. at the Vipers first annual Open House! Call the Vipers front office for more information at (540) 345-PUCK (7825).
