Tennessee Valley Raptors News Release
Huntsville, AL - Reggie Worthy did a little bit of everything for the Tennessee Valley Vipers last season and Head Coach Kevin Guy hopes that there will be no sophomore slump for the former Auburn University wide receiver.
The af2 league office assigned the wide receiver/defensive back to the Vipers for a second season. He rushed for 194 yards on 48 carries and scored 12 touchdowns, caught 70 passes for 926 yards and 20 touchdowns and recorded 29.0 tackles, one interception and four pass break ups on defense. Worthy became the only Viper to be named af2 Offensive Player of the Week when he rushed for 49 yards and three touchdowns and caught six passes for 38 yards and three touchdowns at Memphis on May 11. The 49 yards rushing and six total touchdowns are Viper single-game records.
He set Viper records for yards rushing in a season (194) and rushing touchdowns (12) in a season. He is fourth on the Viper list on receptions in a season (70) and receiving yards in a season (926) and is third in receiving touchdowns in a season (20). His 192 total points in a season is second all-time.
After only one season, he is first on the Vipers all-time list for yards rushing with 194 and rushing touchdowns with 12. He is third on the Vipers all-time reception list with 70, third in receiving yards with 926 and fourth in receiving touchdowns with 20.
Jermaine Alfred, who spent the last seven games with the Vipers last season, signed a practice squad contract with the Dallas Desperados of the Arena Football League. He becomes the fifth player from the 2002 team to sign in the Arena League.
