Alabama Vipers News Release
HUNTSVILLE, AL - The Alabama Vipers (2-1) will host the Milwaukee Iron (3-0) Saturday night at the Von Braun Center in a matchup of American Conference South Division and National Conference Midwest Division leaders. Kickoff is set for 7:35 and the first 1,500 fans 14-and-under will receive "Kids Jerseys" compliments of Huntsville Hospital and Comcast.
"Milwaukee is a solid team with plenty of talent,'' said Vipers coach Dean Cokinos, whose team is coming off a 63-54 win at Utah back on April 17. "It will be a great game and it's going to be the biggest event in North Alabama. We just hope the fans and support this AFL franchise."
The Vipers are led by quarterback Kevin Eakin, who has completed for 65 of 110 passes for 907 yards and 11 touchdowns, and running back Dan Alexander, a former Nebraske All-American and All-AFL performer with 13 rushing touchdowns.
The Iron, coming off a 72-61 win against Tampa Bay, are paced by AFL veteran quarterback Chris Griesen with 979 passing yards and 23 touchdowns, and former Louisville standout Tiger Jones with 30 receptions for 330 and 10 scores.
