Roanoke Valley Vipers News Release

ROANOKE, VA - The Roanoke Valley Vipers, member of the United Hockey League (UHL), announced today the signings of rookie left wing Michael Krelove and rookie goalie Aaron McKenzie.

Krelove, 21, comes to the Vipers from the Fort William North Stars of the Superior International Junior Hockey League (SIJHL), where he put up 44 points (19 goals, 25 assists) in 46 games. The 5-foot-11, 185-pound winger spent three years in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) with the Sault-Ste.-Marie Greyhounds and the Guelph Storm prior to joining the North Stars.

"Mike is a young guy who displays the characteristics of a great leader," said Gary Cook, Vipers Director of Player Personnel. "He [Krelove] and Aaron [McKenzie] are both coming off of winning clubs, so they know what it takes to be a part of a championship organization."

The 5-foot-11, 180-pound stopper McKenzie spent the past two seasons in the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) with the South Surrey Eagles where he carried a combined GAA of 3.46 in 62 games. The 21-year-old is likely to back up Vipers netminder Jamie Hodson for the goaltending duties.

The career statistics of both Michael Krelove and Aaron McKenzie are included with this release.

The Vipers also announced today that they've traded the rights of defenseman Peter Ollari to the Adirondack Frostbite for future considerations.
