Vipers Attendance Up After Three Games

Tennessee Valley Raptors News Release

HUNTSVILLE, AL - Despite several obstacles over the past year, the Tennessee Valley Vipers attendance after the first three home games is slightly up over the number posted after the first three games of the 2001 season. Three games into the 2001 season, the Vipers had a total attendance of 16,581. This season the team is at 16,754 after three games.

"This just shows the growth of our program," Vipers owner Art Clarkson said. "We have upheld our promise of not holding the community up for judgment and by putting a quality product on the field. The Vipers are a healthy organization."

In the third home game of the 2000 season the Vipers attendance was 5,122. The number dropped to 4,961 in 2001 and rebounded this season with 5,970 fans in attendance this past weekend.

"Our main concern is that we are currently 6-0, not about attendance," Clarkson said. "Our objective is to win a championship regardless of who shows up."

The Vipers continue the already tough schedule with back-to-back games with the Pensacola Barracudas. The Vipers will travel to Pensacola this weekend, before the Barracudas return the trip on Saturday, June 1.

Pensacola is a division game for the Vipers, so both games are extremely important if they want to keep the top spot in the division and hold on to home field advantage in the playoffs.
