Tennessee Valley Raptors News Release

HUNTSVILLE, AL - Tennessee Valley Viper defensive specialist, Kelly Snell, has been named the ADT Defensive Player of the Week by the af2 office.

Snell recorded 8.0 tackles, one interception and five pass break ups in the Vipers 45-20 win over the Birmingham Steeldogs last Saturday. The Vipers secondary held Birmingham to a season-low 20 points and did not allow a passing touchdown.

Snell leads the af2 with eight interceptions and has set an af2 record with at least one interception in six consecutive games. He is second on the team with 21.5 tackles and leads the team with 10 pass break ups.

He has tied Arkee Thompson for second place in the Viper record book with eight interceptions and trails David Knott by only one.

Snell is six interceptions away from tying the league record set by Tyrone Laster of the Richmond Speed last season. As a team, the Vipers have intercepted 15 passes in six games.

The Vipers will travel to Pensacola this weekend to take on the Barracudas. Pensacola will make the return trip on June 1.
