Tennessee Valley Vipers head coach, Chris Williams, announced today that team has been assigned former Central Florida quarterback, Ryan Schneider, and former Birmingham Steeldogs WR/LB, Johnny Anderson.
Schneider (6-2, 230) started all four years at Central Florida from 2000-2003. He played in 39 career games and completed 840-1,354 passes for 10, 976 yards and 82 touchdowns. He had a 62.0 completion percentage and averaged 281.4 yards passing per game. His best season came as a junior in 2002 when he completed 265-430 passes for 3,770 yards and 31 touchdowns.
"Ryan put up very impressive numbers while at Central Florida," Williams said. "Adding him to the mix at quarterback really makes for a competitive camp. We have several good quarterbacks coming in to compete for the starting job."
Anderson (6-1, 220) will be in his fourth season of Arena Football. He played 29 games during the 2001 and 2002 seasons with the Steeldogs. He caught 36 passes for 479 yards and 11 touchdowns and recorded 83.0 tackles, five interceptions, 16 pass break ups, four forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries.
The Vipers report for camp in March and open the season at home against the defending af2 champion, Memphis Xplorers, on Saturday, April 1.
