Roanoke Valley Vipers News Release

ROANOKE, VA - The Roanoke Valley Vipers, member of the United Hockey League (UHL), announced today the addition of three players to their roster: Gray Shaneberger, Jesse Baraniuk, and Brendon Clark.

Shaneberger, who played in 11 games for the Port Huron Beacons in 2004-05, will provide the Vipers with some scoring power on the front line. The 6'4", 207-pound forward put up seven points (4 goals, 3 assists) during his short stint with the Beacons, and 25 points (13 goals, 12 assists) with the Kalamazoo Wings, prior to joining Port Huron.

A Sewell, New Jersey native, Shaneberger spent most of the 2003-04 season with the Florida Everblades of the ECHL, and played in eight games with the Cincinnati Cyclones to finish the year. Shaneberger played four years at the University of Maine before being signed by the Everblades.

"We really look forward to having Gray back on our team," said Vipers Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Rick Adduono. "The skill and work ethic he displayed when he joined us toward the end of last season were impressive, and I am proud to be able to bring him to Roanoke with us."

The 5'10", 195-pound defenseman Baraniuk spent three years in the United States Hockey League (USHL) with the Thunder-Bay Flyers and Green Bay Gamblers from 1998-2001, putting up 53 points (16 goals, 37 assists) and 497 penalty minutes during his USHL career. Baraniuk went onto play two seasons at Northern Michigan University, and finished his education and college career with the Lakehead University Thunderwolves.

Also joining the Vipers as a rookie is forward Brendon Clark, who has spent the last four seasons at Merrimack College in North Andover, Massachusetts. The 6'0", 192-pound lefty put up 24 points (11 goals, 13 assists) during his career at Merrimack.

Shaneberger's, Baraniuk's, and Clark's career statistics are included with this release.
