@ Long Beach Ice Dogs

LAST GAME : Victoria kicked off 2007 with an afternoon New Year's Day game versus the defending Kelly Cup champs, the Alaska Aces. Alaska took advantage of their first powerplay of the game as Julian Talbot gave the Aces a 1-0 lead at 2:54 into the first period. The teams battled for neutral zone position in the second period, and the Aces defeated four Victoria powerplays. Victoria Goaltender Julien Ellis turned away seven Alaska shots in the second, but Alaska held the 1-0 lead entering the third frame. With 7:22 remaining in regulation, brother of Julian Talbot, Joe Talbot, earned his first goal of the season for an Aces 2-0 cushion. However, the Salmon Kings were not quick to quit and forced their fifth game of the season into extra periods. With 4:21 remaining in regulation, Rookie defenseman Matt Kelly closed the gap and scored his second goal in as many games. Just under four minutes later, with 24 seconds remaining in regulation, Milan Gajic earned his tenth goal of the season, and tied the game 2-2. Netminder Isaac Reichmuth kept the overtime alive saving seven Salmon Kings shots, and Ellis faced no Alaska shots in the extra stanza. The ensuing shootout was decided by Wes Goldie, popping in a goal as the fourth Victoria shooter, and Ellis stealing the shot from Alaska's fifth shooter, Corbin Schmidt. 3-2 Victoria (shootout)

LAST GAME vs Long Beach: The Ice Dogs were first on the board with a 5-on-3 powerplay goal from Ash Goldie. Victoria struck back just minutes later as Wes Goldie gave the Salmon Kings a goal on a 5-on-3 advantage of their own to tie the game at 1-1.

Eric Neilson regained the Long Beach lead with 9:51 remaining in the first, and earned his first goal of the season.

The Salmon Kings outshot the Ice Dogs 9-4 in the second stanza, but Long Beach had the 2-1 advantage heading into the final period.

Just 59 seconds into the third period, Brandon Schwartz made it a two-goal Long Beach lead with his eighth of the year, and Victoria's Derek Krestanovich narrowed the Long Beach lead to one at 4:02 of the third period.

At 5:21 of the third, Mark Hurtubise restored the Ice Dogs' two-goal cushion, and they secured the win at home.
