Vermont Frost Heaves News Release


South Burlington, VT - The Vermont Frost Heaves stampeded through the Buffalo Stampede 119-91 in an afternoon matinee in Buffalo today.

The Frost Heaves came ready to play as they opened the game with an 18-1 lead and never looked back. Vermont ended the first quarter with a 33-16 margin and Buffalo could never get closer than 17 points in the second quarter. The half ended with Vermont holding a 58-36 lead.

Buffalo managed to get within 12 points in the third quarter at 73-61 but Vermont's defense kept up the pressure and Buffalo could get no closer the rest of the game.

Benson Callier lead all Frost Heaves scorers with 25 points and added 7 rebounds to the cause. John Williams and Joe Nixon added 14 points each followed by Thomas Sanders and Richard Millsap with 12 apiece. Joe Williams added 8 rebounds. Buffalo was lead by Markus Price with 21 points and Karl Rainey with 19. The Frost Heaves shot 62.5% from the field and held Buffalo to 41.5%.

There is no rest for the Frost Heaves as they now travel to Toronto to catch a flight to Halifax for an afternoon showdown on Sunday with the Rainmen in Halifax. It is the return of Eric Crookshank to the lineup for the Rainmen so there should be quite a buzz in the crowd. The Frost Heaves record now stands at 7-3 overall, tied for first place in the Atlantic Division with Manchester.
