BURLINGTON, VT- The Worcester Bravehearts lost 12-2 against the Vermont Lake Monsters at Centennial Field Friday night, snapping a three-game win streak for Worcester.
With the game tied 2-2 heading into the 6th inning, the Lake Monsters scored three runs off of Bravehearts reliever Brian Robertson (College of Central Florida) to pull ahead. The Lake Monsters continued their rally in the 7th inning, bumping the score up to 6-2. The Bravehearts gave up six more runs in the 8th inning. Tom Vesosky (Southern Maine) drove in two runs on a triple, then scored on an error, giving Vermont a 10-run lead and a mercy-rule victory.
After Vermont scored two runs in the bottom of the first, Worcester stormed back in the next inning to tie the game on a two-run home run by Andrew Selima (H) that also scored Nic Britt (William & Mary).
The win went to Vermont's Chris Clark (Harvard), who tossed four scoreless innings, giving up two hits and no walks while striking out nine. Scott Nosky (Framingham State) took the loss for Worcester, giving up three runs, all earned, on one hit in one and one-third innings pitched, walking three and striking out two.
Vermont moves to 2-5 with the win while the Bravehearts fall to 4-2.
The Bravehearts head to Pittsfield Saturday evening to take on the Suns in a doubleheader. The first pitch for game one will be at 5:30 p.m.
