July 26, 2018 - World TeamTennis (WTT)
Washington Kastles News Release
Last night, in one of the most memorable wins in Kastles' history, Venus Williams saved three match points to win the Super Tiebreaker 7-6 and lead a massive comeback win (21-20) over the San Diego Aviators. The match gave the Kastles sole possession of the second spot in the World TeamTennis standings with a 6-2 record, leaving them a half game behind the 7-1 Philadelphia Freedoms with six matches to play in the regular season. The two teams with the best record will meet in the WTT Championship Finals, with the regular season champion hosting the final on Sunday, August 5.
Tonight, Williams will look to continue the Kastles' winning ways at Kastles Stadium against the Springfield Lasers before an expected sellout crowd of more than 3,000.
Each home match is held at Kastles Stadium at the Charles E. Smith Center in Foggy Bottom, located on 22nd Street between F and G Streets NW. Match play starts at 7:00 p.m. Doors to Kastles Stadium open at 5:15 p.m.
