Ventura County FC Wins Over Sporting KC II

LAWRENCE, Kan. - Playing in their first road match of the 2024 MLS NEXT Pro Regular Season, Ventura County FC earned a 3-1 victory over Sporting KC II at Rock Chalk Park on Sunday night. Aaron Bibout recorded a goal and an assist, while Jonathan Pérez and Gino Vivi both scored goals in the road win over Sporting.

LA Galaxy Academy

Nine LA Galaxy Academy Products appeared in the match against Sporting KC II: Gabriel Arnold, Mauricio Cuevas, Carson Klein, Marcus Ferkranus, Riley Dalgado, Harbor Miller, Ruben Ramos Jr., Jonathan Pérez and Nicolas Barros Schelotto. Seventeen-year-old LA Galaxy Academy midfielder Gabriel Arnold made his MLS NEXT Pro debut, appearing as a second-half substitute in the win over Sporting KC II.

Goal-Scoring Plays

VCFC - Aaron Bibout (Mauricio Cuevas), 11th minute: Mauricio Cuevas was released in behind the Sporting KC II backline by Jonathan Pérez and dribbled towards the endline. Cuevas' ensuing low cross into the middle of the penalty area was smashed into the back of the net by Aaron Bibout.

VCFC - Jonathan Pérez, 25th minute: A loose ball inside the penalty fell to Jonathan Pérez, who spun three defenders before drilling his swiveling, left-footed shot in at the near post.

VCFC - Gino Vivi (Aaron Bibout), 54th minute: Aaron Bibout headed down a lofted cross into the path of Gino Vivi, whose shot from inside the box was half-volleyed in at them bottom left corner.

SKC - Pau Vidal (Johann Ortiz), 86th minute: Pau Vidal's shot from the right side of the box was fired in at the bottom far corner of the goal.

Mauricio Cuevas notched his first assist of the season, completed 67 of 77 passes (87%), won five of eight duels, notched two successful dribbles, won four possessions and registered a game-high four interceptions against Kansas City.

Gino Vivi scored his first goal of the season, notched a game-high five shots, completed 24 of 27 passes (88.9%), logged two successful dribbles and won four possessions against SKCII.

Seventeen-year-old LA Galaxy Academy midfielder Gabriel Arnold made his MLS NEXT Pro debut, appearing as a second-half substitute in the win over Sporting KC II.
