Venom's Reed Gets Second Honor of the Year
April 30, 2015 - Professional Indoor Football League (PIFL)
Nashville Venom News Release
NASHVILLE (April 28, 2015) - Nashville Venom kicker Christian Reed was named the Week 6 Special Teams Player of the Week today by the Professional Indoor Football League. The honor was Reed's second of the year (Week 3) and the third of his career (Week 11 in 2014).
In the Venom's Week 6 69-49 victory over the Richmond Raiders, Reed scored 15 points including kicking 9 of 9 on extra points, scoring three Unos and tying the PIFL record with a 52 yard field goal. The second year player from Hendersonville, Tennessee was named honorable mention for the award the previous two weeks. Raider kicker T.C. Stevens won both weeks.
"We challenged him because Stevens is the one of the best kickers in the league," said Venom head coach Billy Back. "To be honest we feel Christian is the best. Kickers feel their biggest competition is the kicker on the other team. A big reason was his confidence this week. With "Hop" (Frazier) snapping again and (Jordan) Jolly holding he has the same routine from last season. We needed every point because the game was closer than the final score indicated. He did a great job for us."
