Nashville Venom News Release

NASHVILLE (June 23, 2015) - Week 14 was a stellar weekend for the Nashville Venom. They defeated the Trenton Freedom 57-37 and two players were named to the Professional Indoor Football League Players of the Week in the final regular season week.

DB Kenny Veal led the Venom with seven solo tackles and three assists. He also picked off two passes earning him the defensive honors his second in his career and first of the season. He now leads the team in interceptions with seven. Kicker Christian Reed won the Special Teams Player of the Week award for the third time this season and the fourth time in his career. Reed scored 15 totals. He was six of six in extra points, two of four in field goals and added three Unos.

"They both played important roles for us to get that victory," said Venom head coach Billy Back. "Kenny has been solid all season. Hasn't been perfect but I give DBs two mistakes a game. It is hard trying to run someone else's route for them. Christian kicked the ball great. We ask him to get all of his extra points. A field goal is a bonus and an Uno is a bonus, bonus in our books. Those points are crucial in our game. He is a weapon for us."

The Venom came to close to sweeping the honors. Jordan Jolly was named honorable mention Offensive Player of the Week. Jolly caught 11 passes for 179 yards and four TDs. The honors broke a long drought for the Venom. The last time a player was named was Week 7 when LB Doug Rippy and KR Mike Whittaker were also awarded the defensive and special teams nod.

Nashville is preparing to take on the Richmond Raiders this Monday in Richmond, Virginia for the first round of the PIFL Cup Playoffs. The winner will take on the Lehigh Valley-Columbus winner.
