Venom Rookies Named to All-IFL Defense Teams

Amarillo, TX 6/25/10 - The Amarillo Venom are proud to announce defensive back Cashmin Thomas has been named to the 1st Team All-IFL Defense Team and defensive back Kevin Patterson has been named to the 2nd Team All-IFL Defense Team.

"I am proud of Cashmin and Kevin on their post-season honors," Commented Defensive Coordinator Quinn Cairo, "Both are well deserving and both have fully bought into the formula that Jon Lyles has brought to this team, which is always being prepared both on and off the field."

Defensive back Cashmin Thomas led the team in interceptions and had 61 total tackles. Cashmin Thomas also had one interception for a touchdown against the Austin Turfcats June 12th and completed 0.5 sacks.

Defensive back Kevin Patterson dominated with two interceptions returned for touchdowns both against the San Angelo Stampede Express and earned 72 total tackles. Kevin Patterson collected 6 interceptions and one forced fumble.

"Both Young men conduct themselves as professional's day in and day out and both have worked hard throughout training camp as well as the season," stated Defensive Coordinator Quinn Cairo, "Both are a joy to coach and I look forward to seeing their careers climb in the years to come."

The Amarillo Venom will have home field advantage Monday June 28th as they will take on the West Texas Roughnecks in the first round of the playoffs.

The Venom are in full swing of getting back to the basics of football and working out the kinks to bring a championship back to Amarillo. "Playoffs mean new record new season, win or go home," commented Venom quarterback Julian Reese, "2004 15-3, 2010 11-3, Looking for the four game run."

The Venom hold the number two seed and will take on the West Texas Roughnecks Monday, June 28th at 7:05PM in the Amarillo Civic Center to gain a second playoff tilt. The game will be nationally televised, but will be blacked out in the Amarillo area. Let's show the country that football fans in Amarillo are the best in the country!
