Amarillo, TX 6/25/10- Amarillo Venom (number 2) will embark on their first round playoff game Monday June 28th at 7:05PM in the Amarillo Civic Center squaring off with the West Texas Roughnecks (number 7).
Amarillo (11-3) has stayed focused on the basics of football and getting back to their roots as they prepare for the Roughnecks. Wide receiver Carl Johnson collected two touchdowns (nine total) for 50 yards last week against San Angelo. The Venom defense leads the IFL with 28 interceptions as defensive backs Kevin Patterson and Darrius Battles added one each. The Lonestar West Division Champions continue to work hard each day preparing for the playoffs.
West Texas (7-7) will play their first road game in three weeks and are 3-4 on the road. The Roughnecks running back Rashaud Slaughter earned two touchdowns for 55 yards as wide receiver Dextar Henderson had two receiving touchdowns for 34 yards against Corpus Christi last week.
