COLUMBUS, Ga. - Second chances in life sometimes never come. In Nashville Venom kicker Christian Reed's case, it only took a week for him to have a chance to redeem himself. Reed kicked an 18 yard field goal as time expired to give the Venom (2-2) a 58-55 victory over the previously undefeated Columbus Lions (3-1). The lead was the first for Nashville since they went up 6-0 on their opening drive on a 40 yard pass from Charles McCullum to Jordan Jolly.

Columbus looked primed to defeat Nashville for the first time scoring the next 27 points. McCullum them hit George Murray a two yard pass to stop the run. The Lions answered as QB Casey Kacz (17 of 31 236 yards, five TDs and three INTs.) hit Dez Beverly on a 19 yard pass to go up 34-13.

McCullum then went back to work hitting newly signed WR Maurice Dupree for a 22 yard score. On the Venom's next possession found Zach Ducker on a four yard TD with no time left in the half. Nashville Head Coach Billy Back then sent his offense out and they converted a two point conversion with McCullum throwing a strike to Jolly and the Venom went into the half with momentum and only down 34-27.

In the second half, Nashville's defense took over only giving up seven points but McCullum threw two interceptions for TDs on consecutive possessions and the Venom found themselves down big once again. The relentless champs once again came off the mat swinging scoring four of the next five TDs. McCullum found Jolly on three of them, the last of which tied the game at 55 with 1:06 remaining setting up Reed's heroics.

McCullum (29 of 45 passing) ended the game with a Venom record 410 yards passing and eight TDs. Jolly caught 10 passes for 220 yards and four TDs. The victory prevented the Venom from going two games under .500 for the first time in team history.

Nashville will be back at home on Saturday versus the Richmond Raiders.
