Vegas Keeps Loving Oakland Sports Teams as Lights' Defeat Roots 3-1
September 9, 2023 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Las Vegas Lights FC News Release
Lights FC continued its three game homestand by hosting Oakland Roots SC on Saturday night at Cashman Field.
The visiting side opened the score in the 12th minute via a penalty kick from Jonathan Rodriguez after the referee called a foul inside the box on Las Vegas defender Lucas Stauffer. Oakland went into the halftime break with a 1-0 lead.
The Lights' struck fast and furious by finding the back of the net twice in an 82 second span, first off with Las Vegas native Azriel Gonzalez taking a shot from outside the box that got past the goalkeeper in the 56th minute to level the action.
That was followed up by a counter attack by Las Vegas that started with Gonzalez serving a fantastic cross to Danny Rios, who brought the ball down with a header to a waiting Tyler Bagley who impacted the ball with his chest to take the lead in the 57th minute.
Lights FC sealed their win 3-1 with an incredible goal from Tyler Bagley in the 89th minute, completing his brace that included the game winner.
Las Vegas registered their third win of the season, second victory which has come against an opponent that is currently in a playoff spot.
