Sioux Falls Storm News Release
The Sioux Falls Storm of United Indoor Football (UIF) has signed Casey Veenhof to a contract for the remainder of the 2007 season. Veenhof played for the Storm at wide receiver and backup quarterback from 2003-2006. The Storm needed to sign Veenhof after current wide receiver; backup quarterback and place kicking holder Chris Pomerleau suffered a knee injury that will keep him out for 4-6 weeks. Veenhof has been a holder on field goals and extra points during each season he has played.
Veenhof will be entering his seventh season of indoor football, spending 5 of those years with the Storm. Last season, Veenhof caught 38 balls in the regular season for 424 yards and 14 touchdowns. Veenhof holds the Storm's career record for most touchdown receptions with 52. He has caught 157 passes over his career with the Storm for 1,911 yards. During last season's playoff run, Veenhof led the team with 11 receptions and four touchdowns.
Veenhof also holds the Storm record for most touchdown receptions in a season as he hauled in 20 in 2004. Veenhof caught 49 balls in 2004 for 688 yards. Veenhof is also the only player in Storm history to be undefeated as a quarterback. Veenhof is 7-0 as a starting quarterback for the Storm.
The Storm's next home game will be against Sioux City on June 9th. Sioux City will be making their second trip to the "Storm Shelter" this season.
