Vancouver Whitecaps FC Celebrate Fan Appreciation Day at Last Match of the Season

VANCOUVER, BC - Vancouver Whitecaps FC will celebrate Fan Appreciation Day on October 22, 2011, at the final match of their inaugural Major League Soccer (MLS) season. To commemorate Fan Appreciation Day, fans will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of pre, during, and post-match activations from team awards and "jerseys off our backs" to live bands, contests, pre and post-match discounts at Milestones, and two-for-one deals on select merchandise.

"We look forward to celebrating Fan Appreciation Day with our supporters this Saturday," said Paul Barber, Whitecaps FC chief executive officer. "An average of 20,000 supporters have come to each of our home matches, putting our season total at over 350,000 fans, which is the third highest in the league. There will be a range of activities throughout the day, so we encourage fans to come early and stay after to take in all the festivities."

Limited tickets remain for Fan Appreciation Day which is also the final Whitecaps FC match of the season. Fans can purchase tickets to Saturday's match at Ticketmaster Ticket Centres, online at ticketmaster.ca/whitecaps or Charge-by-Phone at 1.855.6.GO-CAPS (1.855.646.2277).

On October 22, pre-match, fans can visit the ‚¬ËœCaps Kickoff on Terry Fox Plaza from 2 to 4 p.m. PT where the Adam Woodall Band will be performing at the Bell Box. There will also be face painters, autograph signings, a make-your-own poster station and other activations.

Before and after the match, fans are invited to all Milestones' restaurants in Burnaby and Vancouver as they are offering all fans with match-day tickets a free appetizer with the purchase of a dinner entrée.

Prior to kick-off, seasonal awards will be presented including Player of the Year, as voted by fans, Jock MacDonald Unsung Hero, Most Promising Player, and Whitecaps Foundation Humanitarian of the Year. Post-match, the Domenic Mobilio Golden Boot award will be presented. Fans can vote for the Player of the Year award by visiting whitecapsfc.com .P

At Saturday's match, fans will also have the opportunity to receive great deals on merchandise. All men's replica jerseys are buy one get one free, and all adult t-shirts will be on sale for $10 each. Fans are encouraged to stop by any merchandise kiosk located on level 2, sections 205, 212, 222, 239, and 249.

Post-match, 28 lucky fans - selected at random - will be invited down to the pitch to receive the jerseys off Whitecaps FC players' backs. Whitecaps FC hosts will come find the lucky winners during the match.
