Vancouver Bandits News Release
LANGLEY, B.C. - The Vancouver Bandits announced that the club has signed former Bandit and 2021 Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) sixth man of the year runner-up Shaquille Keith ahead of tonight's contest in Calgary at WinSport Event Centre.
A 6-foot-5 guard from Toronto, Ont., Keith will make his 2023 CEBL debut when the Bandits take on the Calgary Surge tonight. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. PT and the game is available to watch on CEBL+ and TSN+.
Keith has suited up in each of the CEBL's five seasons; including a championship season with the Saskatchewan Rattlers (2019), as well as stints with the Ottawa BlackJacks (2020), Bandits (2021) and Newfoundland Growlers (2022).
During his 2021 campaign with the Bandits, Keith suited up in 13 of a possible 14 regular season games and averaged 11.9 points (4th best on team), 4.2 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game on 47.1 and 35.3 per cent shooting from field goal and three-point range, respectively.
Keith's statistics blossomed in 2022 with the Growlers as he saw his points and steals per game averages climb to 15.8 and 1.4, respectively.
A former Cape Breton University Caper, Keith's professional career has charted the globe. His most recent stop during the 2022-23 season was with BC Prienai in Lithuania's National Basketball League (LKL).
Tonight's tilt versus Calgary is the final game of a three-game road trip for the Bandits.
Vancouver's next home game is Saturday, June 17 when the Saskatchewan Rattlers visit Langley Events Centre. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. PT. Single game tickets for the fifth season of Bandits Basketball are available for purchase at this link.
A key highlight of Vancouver's fifth CEBL campaign will be its hosting of Championship Weekend, which takes place between Friday, August 11 and Sunday, August 13. An annual celebration of the highest level of Canadian professional basketball, Championship Weekend features a postseason format that combines three games of playoff basketball as part of a multi-day festival experience designed to celebrate the intersection of arts, culture and sport. As hosts of Championship Weekend, the Bandits receive an automatic semifinal berth.
